Today the Session of the Joint Board of the Military departments of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus has taken place under the leadership of the Russian Minister of Defence in Moscow.
The session summed up the results of the work on ensuring mutual military security and defined the priorities of joint activities for 2016.
There was also discussed and adopted a number of documents aimed at further development and deepening of military cooperation between Russia and Belarus.
Minister of Defence General of the Army Sergei Shoigu stated that the activities of religious extremism led by the so called Islamic State had increased.
The Head of the Military department said that the terrorist threat could not be admitted to expanding on the territory of Russia and its allies.
He informed that both aviation and the fleet were involved in destroying command centres, ammunition depots, military hardware and training camps of terrorists.
According to General of the Army Sergei Shoigu, implementation of Agreement on joint protection of the Union State of Russia and Belarus air border and establishing of the Joint Air Defence System of Russia and Belarus were discussed during the session.
General of the Army Sergei Shoigu informed that the Cooperation plan between the both ministries for 2016 included over 120 activities.
According to the results, he stated that the decisions made at the session of the Joint Board were aimed at increasing of capabilities to react to modern challenges and threats.
