[15-10-2015] – On 28-29 October 2015, the Division of Electoral Assistance and Census of the Council of Europe organises the plenary meeting of the Ad hoc Committee of Experts on legal, operational and technical standards for e-voting (CAHVE).
The mandate of the Ad hoc Committee is to update the Recommendation Rec(2004)11 of the Committee of Ministers to member States on legal, operational and technical standard for e-voting. While the Recommendation remains the only legal standards in the field of e-voting worldwide, the fast development of information technologies require a thorough revision in order keep pace with these technologies and societal developments over time.
During the meeting, high-level national delegates from election management bodies of Council of Europe member States will debate on the scope and format of the updated Recommendation. Representatives from the Venice Commission, the Parliamentary Assembly and the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities, as well as from Council of Europe intergovernmental bodies, international organisations, civil society and academia will also participate in the event. The Ad hoc Committee is expected to come-up with an updated Recommendation already in 2016.
