Today another teleconference of the leadership of the Russian Armed Forces led by the Head of the Military department General of the Army Sergei Shoigu was held at the National Center for State Defence Control.
It started from the observation of a minute of silence in tribute to the memory of the victims of the Airbus A321 plane crash on the Sinai peninsula.
Before specifying the main issues of the agenda, the Minister of Defence summed up the results of the scheduled command and control training of the Armed Forces.
General of the Army Sergei Shoigu reminded that the practical activities had involved the troops of the Southern MD, forces of the Pacific and Northern Fleet, the Caspian flotilla, the Strategic Missile Forces and the Long-Range Aviation Command.
In particular, combat crews of the Strategic Missile Forces performed a launch of intercontinental ballistic missile Topol from the Plesetsk cosmodrome.
Strategic bombers Tu-160 made strikes on ground targets at the Pemboy and Kura ranges using cruise missiles.
Missile strategic submarines Bryansk (Northern fleet) and Podolsk (Pacific Fleet) launched ballistic missiles from underwater positions in the water zones of the Sea of Okhotsk and the Barents Sea.
The Head of the Military department also explained that in the course of the training particular attention had been paid to the questions of usage of long-range precision weapons.
Thus, a crew of an operational tactical missile complex Iskander-M carried out a launch of cruise missile, which directly hit the target at the Kapustin Yar range.
The crew of the small-sized missile ship Veliky Ustyug of the Caspian flotilla performed firing with a Kalibr cruise missile at a training aim.
General of the Army Sergei Shoigu noted that in general, the results of the training had shown high level of readiness of the strategic nuclear forces and complexes of the long-range precision weapons.
Passing to the agenda of the teleconference, Minister of Defence suggested considering three questions: the development of the federal special-purpose programmes, creation of shelters for aerial equipment and necessary costs for its keeping in open parking areas as well as cash execution of the federal budget in 2015.
General of the Army Sergei Shoigu stated that “at the present time, the projects of conceptions of federal special-purpose programmes are under the approving procedure, by the end of the year positive conclusions are to be received from the federal executive authorities interested in their implementation”.
Passing to the question concerning the creation of shelters for aerial equipment, Defence Minister mentioned that in the recent years the Russian Aerospace Forces had received modern equipment.
Thus, within the last months 40 aircraft and helicopters have been delivered. Not less than 120 aircraft will have been received by the end of the year.
“It is important to keep the new equipment in shelters. That will improve its integrity, reduce the time needed for operational preparation as well as facilitate the work of the maintenance personnel and reduce the maintenance costs,” emphasized General of the Army Sergei Shoigu.
Minister of Defence also informed the participants of the teleconference concerning the execution of the federal budget.
Measures needed for comprehensive and timely usage of budgetary funds were considered.
In the course of the session, the heads of the military administrative bodies received operational tasks within the scope of their responsibilities.
