In accordance with the task assigned by the President of the Russian Federation, the Russian Air Force has significantly increased the intensity of strikes on the armed formations of international terrorist organizations on the territory of the Syrian Arab Republic.
Yesterday, according to the plan of the air operation, the first massive air strike against 206 terrorist objects was made.
In total, in the course of the 24 hours, the Russian aviation has carried out 127 combat sorties, among them:
- by strategic missile-carrying aircraft Tu-160 and Tu-95MS – 5;
- by long-range bombers Tu-22M3 – 24;
- by attack aviation from Hmeymim airbase – 98.
34 air-based long-range cruise missiles were launched against 14 key terrorist facilities in the Idlib and Deir ez-Zor provinces.
The long-range bomber aviation hit 12 objects located in the Raqqah and Deir ez-Zor provinces.
Attack aviation located at the Hmeymim airfield performed tasks on engagement of command centre of militants, plants producing explosives, ammunition depots, terrorists’ training camps, strong points and fortified areas.
All the terrorists’ objects, which had been planned for engagement, were eliminated.
During the recent years, the ISIS and other extremist illegal armed groups have managed to establish favourable conditions for so-called “on-wheels oil pipe line”.
Hundreds of tanker vehicles deliver thousands of tons of oil to Iraq. This is one of the main income sources of terrorists.
In the course of the first several days, the Russian aviation has eliminated approximately 500 fuel trucks. This significantly reduced terrorists’ illegal oil export capabilities and their income.
It is to be noted that there was made a decision, according to which the Russian warplanes started a “free hunt” against terrorists’ tanker vehicles transporting oil products in the areas controlled by the ISIS.
Moreover, Su-34 bombers started performing strikes on oil production objects.
All strikes of the Russian aviation are carried out against targets, which had been detected in advance.
In order to enhance the speed of terrorist facilities detection and the accuracy of definition of their coordinates all reconnaissance including the space one in the Middle Eastern Region has been intensified. It has allowed to detect new terrorist targets and destroy them in real time.
Today at 5 a.m. (Moscow time) the Russian Air Forces made a second massive airstrike against terrorist armed formations in Syria.
From 5:00 to 5:50 a squadron of Tu-22M3 long-range bombers made airstrikes against 6 ISIS facilities in the provinces of Raqqah and Deir-ez-Zor. They engaged depots with weapons and ammunition, mass concentrations of military hardware, training camps and workshops producing explosives.
From 9:00 to 9:10 Tu-160 strategic missile-carrying aircraft launched 12 air-based cruise missiles against ISIS facilities in the provinces of Aleppo and Idlib.
The strikes resulted in destruction of the following objects:
- 3 command centres;
- 2 depots with armament and weapons;
- a militants’ field camp.
As a result of the airstrikes 3 command centres, 2 weapon and ammunition depots and a terrorist field camp have been destroyed. In the course of the day, the attack aviation located at the Hmeymim airbase has carried out 100 combat sorties engaging 190 terrorist facilities.
By 16:00, 59 combat sorties were carried out, 149 objects were destroyed. It should be noted that the Russian air group continues carrying out airstrikes.
Just a few minutes ago a squadron of Tu-22M3 long-range bombers has made the second massive airstrike against 6 militants’ facilities engaging a communications centre, ISIS ammunition depot, a small factory producing explosives and car bombs, as well as a terrorist training base.
The airstrikes are continued according to the approved plan.
In order to ensure the safety, representatives of the international coalition are notified about the time of the airstrikes and the routes of the aircraft in advance.
In accordance with the order of the President of the Russian Federation, the General Staff is elaborating suggestions on joint operations with the French Navy against terrorists. Joint combat operations will be organized when the Charles de Gaulle aircraft carrier arrives to the shores of Syria.
In conclusion, it should be said that the Russian Air Force continues making massive airstrikes against ISIS terrorists in accordance with the air operation plan.
Comprehensive information concerning the results of combat work will be reported.
