U.S. Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker was announced as the moderator for a panel of senior level business leaders for the Smart Fabrics Summit on April 11, 2016. The Summit, hosted by the Department of Commerce and the Industrial Fabrics Association International (IFAI), will provide a forum for public and private sector leaders in technology, apparel, and textiles to highlight recent developments in the smart fabrics industry, identify opportunities for collaboration, and discuss key industry challenges. Secretary Pritzker will be joined by David Lauren, Executive Vice President of Ralph Lauren, Josh Walden, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Intel, and Mary Hennessy, President and CEO of Industrial Fabrics Association International.
U.S. Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker delivered the opening remarks at the second U.S.-Cuba Regulatory Dialogue, which is being hosted by the Departments of Commerce and Treasury in Washington, D.C. from February 17-18, 2016. Cuba’s Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment Rodrigo Malmierca also delivered opening remarks.

U.S. Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker announced that she will lead the largest-ever U.S. delegation to Hannover Messe, the world’s foremost trade fair for industrial technology, taking place April 25 to 29, 2016 in Hannover, Germany. For the first time in the Fair’s history, the United States will be the Partner Country, which provides the more than 270 businesses and economic development organizations (EDOs) in the U.S. delegation an unprecedented opportunity to be prominently featured in U.S. exhibition halls and during special events.
On February 11, 2016, U.S. Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker delivered a J. Ira Harris Lecture, hosted by the University of Michigan’s Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy. Secretary Pritzker’s lecture highlighted the goals she set out to accomplish after accepting the position of Secretary of Commerce and how the Department of Commerce has been revitalized to meet the needs of the 21st century economy through its Open for Business agenda. Secretary Pritzker also discussed one of the most important aspects of the Commerce Department mission, commercial diplomacy, which is using America’s commercial power to influence policy in markets around the world.
