Thank you, Mr. President. Rather than talk of some hidden agenda of the United States, it’s our view that the Russian Federation delegation, and all delegations represented on this Council should work together to reestablish the ceasefire, get to a peaceful de-escalation of the crisis, and arrive at a peaceful resolution on the ground.

We’ve just received a draft press statement, which has been handed out. With regard to the Russian Federation’s suggestion that the Security Council consider this statement on the situation in Ukraine: the United States is ready to engage in a discussion with the Council members on a statement that reflects our consensus view on the situation in its entirety.

Let’s recall the situation: I underscore again that the current crisis in Ukraine is the result of Russia’s aggression and Russia’s violation of Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Thank you, Mr. President.
