|Weekly updates on what we’re doing to expand the U.S. economy through increased exports and inward foreign investment.|
On Sunday, April 24, President Barack Obama and U.S. Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker arrived in Germany to kick off the 2016 Hannover Messe, the world’s largest industrial trade fair. For the first time since the fair’s inception in 1947, the United States served as the official partner country.
(by Vinai Thummalapally, Executive Director of SelectUSA) The 2016 Hannover Messe was not only an opportunity to showcase the ingenuity and innovation of American products and services, it was also a chance to demonstrate on an international stage why the United States is the world’s most competitive investment destination.
In Hannover, we hope to showcase our product and help clients understand how we can help them make deep impact on the productivity and efficiency of their industries, not just giving them the tools to adapt to the current technologies, but preparing for the new technologies that are just emerging. This is specially true for us, since we just released FactoryStudio Industrial IoT (IIoT) HMI for Raspberry PI and Linux, that complements the FactoryStudio multi-platform solutions that already had runtimes for Windows Compact Framework and iOS devices.
(by Vinai Thummalapally, Executive Director, SelectUSA) The world’s leading industrial technology trade show, Hannover Messe, is in full swing, and this year, the United States is the official Partner Country for the first time ever. President Obama spoke at the opening ceremony and highlighted the U.S. commitment to strengthening its industrial base, encouraging investors to consider the U.S. market: “As you look around the globe and try to decide where to invest, where to set up shop, I urge you to select the United States of America. Select USA.”
Hannover Messe is an ideal venue for Louisiana Economic Development (LED) to interact with companies in its target industries, especially the manufacturing and technology sector, and share Louisiana’s story abroad. The sheer size of the event, the quality and breadth of attendees, and Germany’s important position as one of Louisiana’s key markets all influenced our decision to attend this important event.
With the United States making its debut as a Partner Country, we thought this would be a great opportunity to reach both the European market as well as our domestic customer base. With all of the noise in the run up to an election year, it is easy to forget that so much great and innovative manufacturing is still happening in the United States. Link Labs is proud to be part of this US manufacturing renaissance and, despite being a young company, takes great pride in being a global leader in the Internet of Things industry.
(by Chris Higginbotham, Communication Specialist for the Mid-Atlatic region at ITA) “The proof of the pudding is in the eating.” Those were the words of German Chancellor Angela Merkel as she joined President Barack Obama in opening the Hannover Messe 2016 trade show. And as she and the President saw today at the world’s largest industrial trade show, there is plenty to “eat” in the U.S. business community.

During my nearly three years in office, I have visited nearly 40 countries and met with heads of state, economic ministers, and more than 2,000 business leaders. From these experiences, I have observed four important constants: First: people want economic freedom. Second: foreign governments want U.S. companies to invest in their countries. Third: foreign citizens want access to U.S. products and services. Fourth: the voices of American private sector leaders – backed with long-term-capital and world-class products and services – carry immense weight around the world. These constants form the backbone of our vision of commercial diplomacy.
Our goal is to leverage the platform that is Hannover Messe for lead generation, networking and brand promotion. We aim to identify opportunities where we can close business through either direct sale or through channels via distributors and representatives.
