GLACY+: National delivery of the Introductory Judicial Course on Cybercrime and E-Evidence for Judges and Prosecutors in the Dominican Republic

EN: The Council of Europe, through the project GLACY+, conducted training for judges and prosecutors from the Dominican Republic at the National Judicial School. A selected group of four national trainers previously trained by the Council of Europe delivered a 3 days basic judicial course on cybercrime and electronic evidence to a group of 13 judges and prosecutors from various provinces of the country. Among the topics delivered in this course, were:

(i) Challenges, threats and introduction to technology;

(ii) Substantive and procedural aspects of the Budapest Convention on Cybercrime;

(iii) Substantive and procedural national legislation on cybercrime;

(iv) Electronic evidence. Practices and procedures;

(v) International cooperation;

(vi) Public-private cooperation;

By the end of this course new judges and prosecutors had basic judicial knowledge on cybercrime and electronic evidence and, in addition, the Dominican trained trainers strengthened their skills by sharing their expertise and experience and by providing advice to their peers.

ES: El Consejo de Europa, a través del Proyecto GLACY+, llevó a cabo una formación para jueces y fiscales de la República Dominicana en la Escuela Nacional de la Judicatura, en los temas de ciber-delincuencia y evidencia electronica. Un grupo de 4 formadores nacionales previamente formados por el Consejo de Europa han impartido un curso de tres días a un grupo de 13 jueces y fiscales de distintas provincias del interior. Entre los temas que se trataron estuvieron:

(i) Desafios e amenazas y introducción a la tecnología

(ii) Aspectos sustantivos y procedimentales del Convenio de Budapest

(ii) Legislación nacional sustantiva y procedimental sobre delitos informáticos

(iii) Evidencia electrónica. Practicas y procedimientos

(iv) Cooperación internacional

(v) Cooperación público-privada

Al final de este curso, nuevos jueces y fiscales tienen conocimiento judicial básico sobre cibercriminalidad y prueba electrónica. Además, los formadores capacitados dominicanos fortalecieron sus habilidades compartiendo sus conocimientos y experiencia y proporcionando asesoramiento a sus otros compañeros.
