Suicide: What’s happening in the UK and what does this mean for suicide prevention?

Today is World Suicide Prevention Day.

An important part of ONS’ work is providing insight into society that can help organisations to target their work where it is most needed. Last week, we published our annual bulletin on suicide in the UK, setting out the most recent suicide rates by gender, age and residence.

Today’s blog has been co-authored with Samaritans. Liz Scowcroft, Samaritans’ Senior Research & Evidence Manager, and Sarah Caul from the ONS look at the new data and what this can tell us.
